Short-term post-doctoral position in Madrid, starting by mid-november, 2017
Theoretical calculations of physicochemical properties of Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)
THE RESEARCH PROJECT:
The candidate will perform a theoretical and computational study of organic-inorganic hybrid crystalline materials consisting of metallic moieties that are linked by strong coordination bonds to organic ligands, whose pore sizes and physicochemical properties can be modulated, making them extremely attractive for several applications, as hydrogen storage.
THE ENVIRONMENT:
Selected candidate will go on board in an innovative project with Dr. Cristina Díaz in the Department of Chemistry of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Dr. Cristina Díaz is a Ramón & Cajal Fellow and belongs to the CampuS theoretical group. Her area of expertise is focused on quantum dynamics simulations for molecule-metal surface interactions. Her great experience in the area is endorsed by more than 60 publications in well-recognized peer-reviewed scientific journals, the more than 1000 cites her publications have, and an h-index: 19. Dr. Díaz has been involved in 14 research projects during her career, and has supervised 3 Master and 2 Ph.D. thesis.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
– PhD in chemistry, physics or similar fields
– At least 5 years’ experience in theoretical modelling of ground and excited states, conical intersections, non-adiabatic processes, and photoionization processes.
– Expert in the use of quantum chemistry programs such as MOLCAS, MOLPRO, TURBOMOL, etc.
– Programming experience
REMUNERATION:
The position will ideally start by mid-November, 2017 and will be funded for two months.. Equivalent gross annual salary (before applying national income taxes) is 27.000 Euros/year.
