Postdoc positions in attosecond molecular science
Two postdoctoral contracts are available in the group of Prof. Fernando Martín at IMDEA-Nanoscience (http://nanociencia.imdea.org/fernando-martin-s-group/group-people) in the framework of a synergy project funded by the Madrid regional government (Y2018/NMT-5028, FULMATEN-CM).
The research project
The project aims at using attosecond and few-femtosecond laser pulses for real time imaging of charge transfer processes occurring in organic molecules and, eventually, to control them[1] (additional information can be found in the group website).
The successful candidates will be involved in the following tasks:
- description of theoretical photoelectron spectra and attosecond transient absorption;
- improvement and application of theoretical models to visualize the electronic dynamics in molecular systems (from gas-phase to organic photovoltaic systems);
- evaluation of the performance of photoelectron and attosecond transient absorption spectra for key systems;
- real time imaging of charge transfer dynamics in organic photovoltaic systems.
Candidates Profile
Candidates of any gender and nationality are welcome to apply, with the following eligibility requirements:
1. A PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Physics or a closely related subject.
2. A strong background in atomic, molecular and optical physics, attosecond physics, scattering theory, numerical methods and programming.
3. Fluent English;
We will value positively transnational mobility periods, demonstrated independence and commitment to team work, and any additional skills in computational modelling and/or ultrafast science.
Starting Date and Duration
Positions should ideally start from October 2019 to January 2020, and will be funded for two years each. A one-year contract will be signed initially, followed by a one-year extension depending on the performance of the candidate, and upon mutual agreement.
Remuneration
Salary will be agreed based on the candidate experience following the standards of a postdoc position in Spain.
Application procedure
Candidates should send a letter of motivation and future research interests, a CV and a list of publications, contact information for two references, copy of PhD certificate, and any additional information that can support the application to fulmaten-cm@imdea.org before July 31, 2019, with the reference “FULMATEN-IMEA6” in the issue. Additional supporting documents and recommendation letters could be requested during the selection process. Selected candidates shall be contacted for an interview.
